Well, ~104crazyman188 has recently asked about interactive stories on DA, and as I was a little restless lately, I've decided to play a little by making I-StoryC : the Interactive Story Creator.

This creator make possible to create interactive stories and to generate a flash animation to read it.

Here's a Sample and its XML Storyline

You are free to use it to create your stories, just know that the generated Flash automatically give credit of the text to the author (indicated in the creator) and of the flash part to myself.

Technically speaking, this little thing was easy to make.
The only fun part was the generation of a swf by a swf, but even that was not really complex.

Hum, that's strange. Could you send me the xml file by note, please ? I'll try to see why it reacts like this.

So. I looked into it, and it seems that, when in a browser, the file loading don't work anymore... my script never seems to receive the event that the file is loaded :/

I'm not sure why it does this now, but I'm pretty certain it worked before. It may be due to one of the Flash Player updates from the past year.

For now, if you download the swf and run it from your computer, it should work ok. I've things to do today (right now it's 8:30AM where I live), but I'll work on it this evening.

I'll come back to you when I'll have this bug removed.

Hi.

Sorry, I didn't see your message before. I was in holidays without a internet.
If you meant "how do I download the swf of te history I just made ?", you can do it, by clicking on the "Save I-Story" button (last one in the vertical menu)

Did you save using "Save Story" button, or "Save I-Story" ?

If you used "Save Story", you should have a xml file, that contains the content of your story. You can then reload it (using "Load Story") and continue your work, or try it out.

If you used "Save I-Story", you should have a swf file. It is a flash animation containing the story. You can play this story by running the animation (double-clicking on the file is enough for it), or even upload it in dA to share it to the others.

You can consider the xml file as the working file (kind of like a .psd), when the swf is the exported file (like a png or a jpeg exported from the psd). You can edit the story as much as you like from the xml, but if you only have the swf, it cannot be modified anymore.

Hey, the comment you made was nice but after looking at again I've come to realize that it didn't actually say anything about how I can write the actionscript I need to to have my swf generate a swf.... do you have a tutorial or something?
